Artist's Statement
"Trinity's Freedom"
Portfolio
"Beauty loves freedom; then it is
no surprise that we engage beauty through the imagination. The imagination
always goes beyond the frames and cages of the expected and predictable. The
imagination loves possibility and freedom is the ether where possibility lives.
Uncharted territories are always beckoning. Beauty is at home in this realm of
the invisible, the unexpected and the unknown. It emerges from its own depths,
sure in poise and generous in possibility. Yet there is a certain disturbance in
the call of beauty, a displacement." John O'Donohue
As an artist I find I love working with circular shapes that become whimisical
when I draw hanging tendrils that extend from their borders. For me these
circular shapes with their awkward tendrils become merry dancers, singers of
song and players of games in the playground of life. I am very intimate with
them as they dance and sing along my canvas or on my paper.
I try to make these playgrounds magical. I try to create a joyous atmosphere of
surprise that constantly disorients the spectator of my playgrounds and allows
us to imagine and think of possibility. I want these paintings and their
circular shapes to establish their own autonomy their own freedom through their
own beauty, to create their own "uncharted territories" through our imaginary
visions of the unexpected and the unknown. These playgrounds sing praises to the
beauty of the natural landscapes and gardens where I constantly find beauty,
love and my inspirations, . These paintings are my way of giving back to nature
what it has given me, they are my love song.
